Chicago Summer Rooftop Wedding

Wicker Park’s Robey Hotel was the opening scene of Jimmy & Chris' special day. Having just returned from some wedding errands, the grooms were catching up and getting themselves ready for the day. This was a good moment to learn more about these two and their dynamics. Prep also happens to be one of our favorite parts of the wedding day to photograph. Half way through getting ready, the grooms pulled up a Youtube bow tie instructional which had several million views; many along with us were stuck figuring out a bow tie. Luckily, Jimmy's future brother in law had experience with tying them.

Guests began arriving to the Ignite Glass Studio lawn for cocktails and catch up. A custom made step and repeat kept the guests busy while the the family went away to prep their corsages. The seats were soon filling up on the spacious Ignite Glass studio rooftop where the ceremony was being held. The ceremony presented everyone a skyline view of Chicago, the marvelous backdrop encompassed both the John Hancock and Willis Tower. Two adorable twin girls dressed the ceremony path with flowers. Adorned with a golden halo, friend and officiant Ely Kim led the ceremony. Friends and family witnessed this couple declare and confirm their love for one another, with tears, laughter and embrace. It was a recurring theme that played again during the reception, however in return their family expressed their love for them. Fathers from both sides took turns sharing endearing memories of their sons at youth, how incredibly happy they are for their new life ahead and endless support they will always provide them. The night wrapped up with dancing, sweet treats and summer lawn games.

Antique Taco catered the delicious food, with Jeni's Ice Cream offering cold treats. The Doughnut Vault Truck kept everyone dancing with coffee and doughnuts.

We were eager and excited to capture this wedding after hearing some of the very creative ideas from Jimmy & Chris during our first meeting. It was a spectacular celebration and we're humbled to capture such a special day!

Congrats to the Van Meters on being each others other!

As a bonus we've added some photos of their energetic dog Stevie Nicks.
